There are 2 ways to set up 2-factor-authentication on your Surfshark account:

We recommend using the authentication application due to its simplicity and ease of use.

Authentication using Google Authenticator or Authy apps

  7. Open the Google Authenticator app, click on the circle with a plus sign. Then select the Scan a QR code option, and your phone camera will open. Point it to the QR code on your desktop. A new authentication profile named Surfshark will appear automatically.

  8. Get back to your account at surfshark.com. To confirm the activation of 2FA, enter the six digits that you see under the Surfshark authentication profile. Then, click Next.

  9. Download recovery codes in a text file. You may need recovery codes to regain access to your account if you accidentally delete the authentication app.

We highly recommend saving the recovery codes on multiple devices or in cloud storage.

Click Done when the download finishes.

That's it! Now your account is secured with an extra layer of authentication. Next time you log in to your account, you will also need to enter a temporary verification code after entering your username and password. Open the Google Authenticator app and enter the code that you see under the Surfshark profile.

Authentication using your email address
