How to set up Surfshark on Amazon Fire TV Stick

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to install and set up the Surfshark VPN app on your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV, log in, connect to the VPN, and use the search bar. 

 

Before you start

  • Make sure your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV is running Fire OS 7.0 or later;
  • You will need an active Surfshark subscription (available on the Surfshark pricing page).

 

Here's what to do

Install the Surfshark app

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, hover over Find and select Search.

  2. Type Surfshark using the on-screen keyboard, then select Surfshark VPN from the search results below.

  3. Select the Surfshark app, then click Get or Download to begin installing:

Log in to the app

  1. Once the installation is complete, you can either click Open or locate the app in your device's Applications list.
  2. On the welcome screen, you'll see two options. If you already have an account with Surfshark, press Log in, or if you don't yet have a subscription, press Create account:

QR code or login code

  • If you're already logged in to the Surfshark app on your phone, scan the QR code with your camera to log in on your Fire TV:

  • Alternatively, open the Surfshark app where you're already logged in, go to Settings > My account > Enter login code, and enter the code from your Fire TV. For more information, follow our article on how to log in to Surfshark with a code.

     

Email and password

  • At the bottom of the QR code screen, click Log in with email:

  • Enter the email address and password associated with your Surfshark account and click Log in:

Connect to the VPN

  1. Once logged in, you'll see the Surfshark home screen. To connect instantly, press the Fastest recommended location to connect to the VPN:

  2. Once connected, the home screen will display a green Connected status with the location you're connected to. Your internet connection is now secure:

Browse and select VPN locations

Surfshark has 4,500+ servers in 100 countries — use the search bar at the top of the home screen to search and connect to any preferred VPN location. 

  1. Navigate to the search bar with your remote and press it:

  2. Type in your preferred location — you can use just the two letters that indicate a country, such as US, IT, EN:

    NOTE: Choose the VPN location depending on which streaming service you're trying to access. If you're accessing a US streaming service, connect to any US location. 

 

Verify your connection is working

After setting up Surfshark, confirm that your VPN connection is working properly. You can do this by performing an IP leak test and a DNS leak test on our website.
