How to fix Surfshark VPN streaming issues on Fire TV devices running Vega OS?

Surfshark VPN is now available on Vega OS, Amazon’s new Linux-based operating system for Fire TV devices.

Vega OS is currently available on the Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025). Amazon is expected to expand support to additional Fire TV devices and smart TVs over time.

Since Vega OS is still new, the Surfshark app currently offers core VPN functionality. If you run into streaming issues, the steps below should help.

How to troubleshoot streaming issues while connected to the VPN

If a streaming service doesn’t load or shows location-related errors:

  1. Perform a Surfshark DNS leak test

After connecting to a Surfshark server, your real IP and DNS information should be hidden. If something interferes with the connection, this data may be exposed. You can follow our tutorial to check whether your VPN connection is working properly.
  2. Try another device

Sign in to the same streaming service on a phone or laptop while connected to Surfshark. This helps determine whether the issue is device-specific.
  3. Clear the browser’s cache or the streaming application’s cache.

Clearing cached data removes old location information that may block playback.
