How to use the new Android Home Screen?

Recently, Surfshark started gradually releasing a newly updated home screen for the Surfshark Android app. In this article, you'll learn how to use the newly added home screen to its fullest extent.

To follow along, you will need an Android device running OS 5.0 or later and an active Surfshark subscription, which you can purchase on the Surfshark plans & pricing page.

What is the purpose of the new Android Home screen, and how to enable it?

The new Surfshark Android home screen is designed to provide an easily understandable overview of your security status across multiple products, inform you about all critical actions requiring your attention, and enable you to address them quickly and easily.

If you wish to enable it, tap on Settings and select New app look.



How to use the new home screen VPN section?

The newly updated home screen is intuitive and designed for simple and convenient daily use of Surfshark and all its features. Let's go over what is new, starting at the VPN section:



Here, you'll be able to do the following:

  • Change your VPN location by tapping on it:



    You'll then be presented with the available connection locations. To connect, simply tap on a location of your choice.



  • To view more information about your connection, tap on the arrow at the top right of your screen.



    You'll then be able to see your VPN IP address, the VPN protocol in use, and enable or disable the Kill switch feature.



  • You can also favourite the currently selected location by tapping on the star. All favorited locations appear at the top of the locations list.



How to use the new home screen to access Surfshark products?

Surfshark offers not only a VPN but also Antivirus, Alert, Search, and Alternative ID—all products included in your Surfshark subscription plan will be reflected on the home screen for quicker and more convenient access.



  • Surfshark Antivirus

    The Antivirus tile will display the most vital information, such as whether any threats have been detected.




    You can tap on an action item directly to immediately address the issue:



    You will then be able to decide how to proceed with the problem at hand.



    For more detailed information, tap on the Antivirus tile. Here you'll see a full device status update alongside the following options:
    • Real-time protection – all downloaded files will be scanned in real time.
    • Daily scan – select a time for when an automatic Full or Quick scan will take place.
    • Include storage – all of the files that have not yet been installed or viewed will be scanned as well.
    • Excluded apps – select apps that are not affected by the Antivirus scans.



  • Surfshark Alert

    The most crucial information regarding your monitored account security will be seen in the Alert tile.



    To address the issue, press the pill.





    To access more information, tap on the tile itself, where you'll be able to see the following:
    • Monitor emails – get informed in case your email gets breached.
    • Scan credit cards – get alerts in case your card info gets leaked.
    • Monitor IDs – see if your ID information was leaked. 
    • Settings – more Surfshark Alert settings.



  • Alternative ID

    By tapping on the Alternative ID tile, you can manage your Alternative persona and Alternative number.




    You can also access your Alt email & Alt persona by pressing the pill directly – you can copy your alternative details there.

  • Surfshark Search

    Surfshark Search is also easy to access – to do so, simply tap on the Surfshark Search tile.
