What is CleanWeb 2.0?

NOTE: The video above reflects an older version of Surfshark and will be updated shortly.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to set up CleanWeb 2.0 on the Surfshark browser extension. You will need a device with Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browser alongside an active Surfshark subscription, which you can purchase on our pricing page.

You will learn:

  1. How to use CleanWeb?
  2. How to access website safety settings?

How to use CleanWeb?

  1. Open the Surfshark browser extension on your preferred browser and click on the CleanWeb icon.

  2. Now press on Turn on CleanWeb to turn it on.

  3. Once on, you can see what website it is currently functioning on and the ability to turn it off for this website specifically, meaning that it will be added to a list of websites that are unaffected by CleanWeb.

  4. Click on CleanWeb settings.

    Here you can toggle:
  • Ad blocker – the Ad blocker removes ads on the web pages you visit. It also blocks video ads on popular streaming platforms.

  • Pop-up blocker – blocks cookie pop-ups that you need to agree on in order to sometimes even visit the website.

How to access website safety settings?

  1. Open the Surfshark extension and click on Settings.

  2. Click on Website safety settings.

Here you can toggle:

  • Data breach alert – this tool will show whether the website you are visiting had any breaches previously. If a website has been breached previously, you will see a warning at the top of the page.

  • Malware alert – this tool monitors downloads and malicious activities happening on the website that you are visiting.
