Updating the application
The Surfshark application will always check for new updates automatically. However, it is also possible to update it manually if you wish to.
To update the application manually, enter the following commands into the Terminal:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
Connect to the VPN
Now the Surfshark application on Linux has a complete interface, just as the Surfshark apps on other operating systems.
To connect to the VPN, select a server you would like to connect to or use the Quick-connect feature.
You will also find different protocol options, like OpenVPN UDP/TCP and WireGuard.
Features
In the Surfshark app, you will also find the CleanWeb feature.
CleanWeb works as an ad blocker - it will block ads and malicious links on your browser before they can harm you.
Make sure your connection was successful
It's always recommended to check whether your connection was successful after setting up a VPN for the first time. This can be quickly done by doing an IP leak test and a DNS leak test available on our website. Click here to find out how to make sure your connection was successful.
Congratulations - you have successfully installed and configured your Surfshark VPN app! As long as you’re connected, your location is private, and your sensitive data is secure.
