How to set up Surfshark VPN on Android using APK installation

In this tutorial, you will learn how to install the Surfshark VPN app on your Android device using the APK( Android Package Kit) file.

This is a great solution if you’re unable to download Surfshark from the Google Play Store.

You will need an Android device running OS 6.0 or later and an active Surfshark subscription, which you can purchase on our pricing page.

 

Download the Surfshark app

  1. Go to the Android application download page. Tap on Download .APK.

  2. Once you download the Surfshark.apk file, tap open on the pop-up.

Install the Surfshark app

  1. The installation process will begin. To confirm the installation, tap on Install.

  2. Once the installation process is complete, tap Open, which will open the Surfshark application.

 

Connect to the VPN

Once you log in, you will see the main dashboard of the Surfshark app.

  1. You can start by tapping Connect. By default, your app will connect you to the fasted available location.

  2. You can switch the location you're connecting to by tapping on the flag/country name:

    Choose the fastest server or the nearest country, or scroll down and pick a server from the locations list:

  3. When trying to connect for the first time, you will be asked to allow Surfshark VPN to set up a VPN connection. This is necessary for Surfshark to create and manage the VPN tunnel. Tap ok:

  4. When your app successfully connects to a VPN, you will see the connection status on the main screen.
