Surfshark's newly updated referral program allows you to invite your friends to join Surfshark and earn money or free months to your subscription.

This article will teach you the basics of the Surfshark referral program, and how to use it.

To participate, you need an active Surfshark subscription, which you can purchase on our pricing page.

In this tutorial, you will learn:

How does the Surfshark referral program work?

 

The Surfshark referral program is rather simple. Once you invite your friends and they stay with Surfshark for at least 31 days, you can claim a reward of your choice — free months added to your Surfshark subscription or a commission fee payout to your PayPal account.

When choosing your reward, consider the following:

  • The money rewarded depends on the price of the subscription your friend purchases, the commission rate, and the currency change rate at the moment of purchase. To make a payout, you must reach the payout target;

  • The months rewarded depend on what kind of subscription your friend has purchased. If they purchase a monthly subscription, you’re both rewarded an additional month; if they purchase a longer subscription, you both gain 3 extra months.

NOTE: In some countries, only extra months are available as a reward for referring your friend. For more information, check our Terms of Service.

 

How to refer your friend to Surfshark

 

  1. Enter the Refer & earn tab in your Surfshark account.

    You can also access it by clicking Refer at the top of your Surfshark account page.


  2. Copy & share your unique referral link with your friends.


    You can also find your referral link in the Surfshark desktop or mobile apps. To do so, Open the Surfshark app > Settings > Refer & earn.

  3. Your friends must be brand-new Surfshark subscribers and stay with Surfshark for at least 31 days.

  4. You get to claim a reward of your choice, and your friends get to enjoy free months depending on their subscription's length.

 

How to claim your rewards

 

  1. Enter the Refer & earn tab in your Surfshark account.

    You can also access it by clicking Refer at the top of your Surfshark account page.


    Additionally, you can access this page from the Surfshark desktop or mobile apps. To do so, Open the Surfshark app > Settings > Refer & earn and click on the link there.

  2. Now click on the Rewards & payouts tab.


  3. If you have any rewards, you will see them in the Referrals tab:


    Here, you can do the following:
      • You can claim all your rewards as money or as months by pressing one of these buttons respectively:


        NOTE: The action to claim all your rewards as money or as months is irreversible – once clicked, a confirmation pop-up will appear.


      • You can also claim each of the rewards individually once they are ready to claim by pressing Claim.


        And choosing your preferred reward:


      • If you choose to claim your rewards as extra months to your subscription, they will be applied immediately:


      • If you choose to claim your rewards as money, you'll see the sum appear in your Wallet: 


        It is important to note that you can make a payout only once you've reached/or surpassed the payout target:


        Once that is done, you can click Pay out:


        The payouts are made via PayPal. Once you press Pay out and Confirm, all the reward money accumulated in your wallet will be sent to your PayPal account. The payout sum cannot be split.


        NOTE: Make sure to use your real PayPal account details, i.e., your real full name and beneficiary country of where your PayPal account is based. The payout sum you receive to your PayPal account may be affected by exchange rates, fees, or taxes.

        Afterward, you will get a confirmation that the reward money will reach your PayPal account within the first 10 business days of the following calendar month.


      • You can monitor your payouts in the Payout tab. If the payout is marked as Pending, it means that the money is on its way.


        If you notice that the payout is marked as Failed, the money you tried to cash out will be sent back to your wallet. In these cases we recommend checking your PayPal account details and trying to make a payout again.


        If that does not work, copy the Payout ID and contact our Customer Support.
