How to take a screenshot on Windows?

First off, to take a screenshot, you will need to open up the Snipping Tool. This application is present by default on all Windows systems.

 

  1. Press the Start (Windows) button, type snipping tool in the search box, and then select the Snipping Tool from the list of results.

  2. Press Mode (in older versions, select the arrow next to the New button), select Rectangular snip, and then select the screen area that you want to screenshot.

  3. After you capture a screenshot, select the Save Snip button.

  4. In the 'Save As' box, type a file name (or leave the default), choose a location, and click Save.
