How to disable IPv6 on macOS?

IPv6 support is currently not implemented in Surfshark architecture. Therefore, if you have it enabled on your network, it might prevent you from connecting to the server of Surfshark.

To find out what is IPv6 and why you should care about it, you may read our article here.

In order to disable IPv6 on your Mac, proceed to the tutorial below.

  1. Go to Apple - > System Preferences.

  2. Go to Network.

  3. Select the first network connection you see listed on the left-hand side (usually Ethernet or Wi-Fi), then click the Advanced button.

  4. Go to the TCP/IP tab at the top. Beside "Configure IPv6", set it to "Off". If you do not have this option, select "Link-local Only".

  5. Click OK to apply changes.

You have successfully disabled IPv6 on your PC for this specific network. If you connect to a different type of network (Wi-Fi for example), repeat this process with the new network.
