This guide will show you how to change the DNS server settings on your GL.iNet router.
Setting up custom DNS servers on your router will prevent potential DNS leaks in the VPN connection and improve general connectivity.
- Open the Web Admin Panel. To do so, open a web browser and visit http://192.168.8.1. This link will redirect you to the Web Admin Panel.
If this is your first time opening the Web Admin Panel, you will need to select the language. Select English or any language you prefer.
- Afterward, you will need to create a password that you will use to access the Web Admin Panel. Use any password that you prefer.
- Once you complete the initial setup, you will see the Web Admin Panel. Go to Settings > DNS Settings.
Enter these DNS servers:
DNS server 1: 188.8.131.52
DNS server 2: 184.108.40.206
Check both Force all clients to use and Rebind Protection options and click Apply.
Congratulations - you have successfully set up custom DNS on your GL.iNet router!
