Linksys router tutorial

Please note that we recommend downloading our apps to ensure the best performance & security, as well as the easiest setup. We offer apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Chrome, Firefox, and Fire TV at the moment. If your device doesn’t support VPN apps, you can probably set up our Smart DNS on it to unlock geo-restricted content.

You can set up a Linksys router with Sufshark by using OpenVPN protocol to connect our remote servers. Original Linksys firmware does not offer this functionality - but with just a few extra steps, you can work around it.

Enjoy VPN services on your router by installing custom firmware that supports OpenVPN protocol like DD-WRT or Tomato.

You can check if your router supports DD-WRT firmware here. If it does, please follow this article to safely install DD-WRT on your router.

All the Tomato supported Linksys routers are listed in this article. To install this firmware on your router, please follow these instructions.

There is other firmware available, like Advanced Tomato, that can be installed on your router to connect to the VPN server. You can find all the routers that support Advanced Tomato here. There is a detailed "HOW TO" guide on the Downloads page for every router.

Please note that Surfshark is not to be held responsible for any damage done to the router or void of warranty that could be caused by installing custom firmware on your router.
