How to set up Surfshark VPN on Cudy router

Cudy routers feature a dedicated Surfshark VPN client interface, allowing you to secure every device on your network by configuring your account directly on the router. You can easily complete the setup using either the Cudy mobile app or the web interface.

NOTE: This feature is available for Cudy routers running firmware version 2.5.0+ and Cudy App version 1.5.5+.

Method 1: using the Cudy App

1. Connect your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network and open the Cudy App.

2. Agree to the terms and select Local Management:
   
   
3. Select Wi-Fi Device. If you have managed other types of devices before, tap the menu icon (☰) on the left of the Dashboard to switch to Wi-Fi Device:
   
   
    
4. Tap your router:
   
   
    
5. Enter the router's administrator password and tap Log in. Create one if this is your login for the first time:
   
   
    
6. Scroll down and tap More:
   
   
    
7. Tap VPN:
   
   
    
8. Tap VPN Client:
   
   
    
9. Tap Add:
   
   
    
10. Tap Surfshark:
    
    
     
11. Enter your Surfshark account Username and Password, and tap Continue. If 2FA is enabled on your account, enter the code found in your email or authenticator app:
    
    
12. Configure the following settings:
     
    • Default Rule: choose how devices interact with the VPN (e.g., Allow All Devices).
    • VPN Policy: set specific rules for traffic if needed.
    • Server: search for and select your desired server location.
      
      
       
13. Tap the check icon (✔) at the top right to save and apply:
    
    
     
14. Toggle on the Surfshark profile to start the VPN connection:
    
    

Method 2: using the web interface

1. Open a web browser and log in to your router's web interface at cudy.net (or 192.168.10.1).
2. Navigate to General Settings:
   
   
    
3. Select VPN in the left navigation menu:
   
   
    
4. Click VPN Client:
   
   
    
5. Click Add:
   
   
    
6. Select Surfshark in the VPN Client pop-up window:
   
   
    
7. Enter your Surfshark account Username and Password, and click Continue. Enter your 2FA code if prompted:
   
   
    
8. Configure your connection settings and click Save & Apply:
    
   • Create a Description for the VPN profile.
   • Default Rule: choose how devices interact with the VPN (e.g., Allow All Devices).
   • VPN Policy: set specific rules for traffic if needed.
   • Server: search for and select your desired server location.
     
     
      
9. Toggle Enable to activate the VPN client profile and connect to the VPN:
   
   

Configuration settings explained

When setting up your client, you may encounter the following options:

• Allow All Devices: by default, all devices use the VPN connection unless a specific policy rule states otherwise;
• Ban All Devices: prevents all devices from using the VPN unless a policy rule explicitly allows them;
• VPN Kill Switch: blocks all internet access if the VPN connection is lost to prevent data leaks;
• Domain: applies the VPN policy to specific domain names (e.g., example.com);
• Remote Subnet: applies the VPN policy to a specific destination network using CIDR notation (e.g., 192.168.10.0/24);
• Disable: deactivates a specific policy rule.
