What is Rotating IP for macOS, and how does it work?
If enabled, the Rotating IP feature for macOS changes your IP address every 5 minutes within your selected city, country, region, or globally.
Although Surfshark VPN provides essential security by encrypting your traffic and masking your IP address, using the same IP address continuously may make your online activities traceable over time, thus making Rotating IP a great solution for increased online anonymity.
How to enable Rotating IP on macOS?
-
Open the Surfshark app, go to VPN settings, and select Rotating IP under Advanced settings.
-
Toggle the switch to the ON position after selecting the rotation range of your preference:
- City – rotates amongst the available IPs within the same city.
- Country – changes to other IPs within the same country.
- Region – changes amongst IP addresses within the same geographic region, such as North America, South America, North Europe, East Europe, South Europe, Africa, Asia, or Oceania. The region depends on the VPN location you select.
-
Worldwide – changes to other IPs from anywhere in the world.
-
When the Rotating IP feature is enabled, you will see it in the main screen, as well as the selected rotation range.
Additional notes
- You cannot use the Multi IP and Rotating IP features simultaneously.
- Rotating IP does not work with the Dedicated IP, Static IP, and Multi-Hop servers.
